These wooden trays can be manufactured by following these steps:
- Material Selection:
- It’s recommended to use solid wood boards (such as oak, beech, or walnut) with an appropriate thickness (usually between 18 to 30 mm).
- Preparing the Design:
- Load the STL, SVG, DXF design files into the CNC router control software.
- Adjust the settings such as cutting depth, number of toolpaths (roughing and finishing), and spindle speed.
- Cutting Process (CNC Router Machining):
- Securely fix the wood board onto the CNC machine table.
- Use a suitable cutting bit (end mill) with the appropriate diameter (typically 6 to 12 mm) for the rough cut.
- Perform the roughing stage to remove the bulk of the material at high speed.
- Switch to a finer tool (ball nose or tapered bit) for the finishing pass to achieve smooth and detailed shapes.
- Sanding and Smoothing:
- After cutting, remove the tray from the machine and clean it thoroughly.
- Use sandpaper or an electric sander to smooth the surface and eliminate sharp edges or imperfections.
- Final Finishing:
- Apply a natural wood oil or food-safe coating to add shine, enhance color, and protect the wood.
Note: these trays can be crafted manually using traditional woodworking tools.
